WebFeb 23, 2024 · It is a good powder. I especially like it for 60-69gr Bullets. BUT, CFE223 has edged it out for me, plus is more accurate with 55 gr. Those two powders, Varget and 8208 are my top four powders for .223. There are several other good ones but these are the ones I’ve had the most consistency with. But point of reference for everyone to back up what @nralifer isnsaying about leverevolution and cfe223 data being interchangeable…I had a hard time believing that and thought it was probably dangerous advise at first. Benchmark is one of the Hodgdon Extreme line, which all have a special low temperature sensitivity formulation, while CFE223 is not. Denton Bramwell did some testing to show that barrel temperature had more effect than ambient temperature does on ammunition, so that fits as well.
WebCFE223 is temp sensitive so now is the time of year to test the high-end of temp/velocity for a given load.
